About these figures
- What it is: the System Average Price (SAP), the average price of gas traded for each gas day on the GB system, published by National Gas. It's a wholesale price, before network costs, supplier costs and VAT, so it's not the price on your bill.
- Units: 1 therm = 29.3071 kWh, so p/therm = p/kWh ร 29.3071.
- Timing: each gas day runs 05:00 to 05:00, and its price is published at about 12:40 the following day, so the latest figure is always yesterday's or the day before.
- History: National Gas publish about five years of daily prices, so the chart starts in October 2021 and includes the 2022 energy crisis.
